Promoting Our Heritage

As part of our work to promote the conservation, management, understanding and enjoyment of Scotland's heritage, Archaeology Scotland co-ordinates a number of initiatives to increase active public participation in our archaeological heritage.
Scottish Archaeology Month is a programme of free archaeological visits, lectures and activities suitable for all ages and levels of expertise which takes place each September.
Our Summer School, one of our most popular events, is a residential weekend exploring local archaeological sites and monuments with the archaeologists who know them best.
While our conferences and publications, in particular our annual journal Discovery and Excavation in Scotland and the Archaeological Research in Progress Conference (organised by ArcScot in collaboration with the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland) are contributed to and enjoyed by interested amateurs and professional archaeologists alike.
