CSA Volunteers
Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to CSA's work, from providing policy advice to assisting at outreach events, helping with office administration to representing CSA at meetings. Between April 2005 and March 2006, 47 volunteers (including Board members) gave over 1200 hours of their time to the organisation.
Our regular volunteers include:
Patrick Cave Browne
Patrick provides support to the CSA team, and is a member of the Mailing team and Outreach team. A retired army major, Patrick previously worked with visually impaired young people in Africa and Edinburgh. His specialist interest is ancient technology and he is well known - and in much demand - throughout Scotland for his fire-making skills.
"I find volunteering with the CSA to be a very fulfilling experience and it certainly helps to keep me young!"
Doug MacBeath
Doug is an archaeology graduate from Edinburgh University and now works full time in the museum and archive sector. Doug has been involved with CSA's Outreach work since the outset and is a key member of the team. His experience of audiences at both large and small scale public and school events is extremely useful.
"it's great fun, especially the look on people’s faces when they realise that they have drilled through wood with a stone, or successfully spun fleece into wool!"
