Historic Scotland has statutory responsibilities to deal with Scheduled Ancient Monuments & Listed Buildings - see here for further details.
Local Council & Trust Archaeologists deal with archaeology at a local level through the planning process.
RCAHMS maintains the national database of Sites & Monuments Records including the online database Pastmap.
The following Museums have significant archaeological collections and may be able to help identify finds uncovered in the Scottish countryside. All significant finds must be reported to the Treasure Trove Panel.
