Managing archaeology

If you are wishing to manage archaeological sites as part of an agri-environment scheme or for your own interest, CSA have produced a series of Rural Guides. They will give you basic information on how and why archaeological sites might be managed. You can print these out for reference.

Specific information on a variety of management issues can be accessed here:

On-site advice on managing archaeological sites is difficult to obtain as only Scheduled Monuments and Listed Buildings have statutory protection. Management on these sites requires consultation with Historic Scotland.

For sites that do not have statutory protection you should consult your local authority archaeology service and they will let you know if they have the resources to help you with your query.
