CSA Rural Guides

These resources have been produced by CSA as part of the Rural Land Use project, and have been designed to help land managers identify and manage archaeological sites and historic landscapes in Scotland. Any feedback on their value for this purpose would be gratefully received. In particular it would be useful if types of site, landscape or management practices not covered above, were added to this list.

Archaeology & Farming Advice Notes

CSA have produced a series of A4 Advisory leaflets on Good Practice on dealing with Archaeology & Historic Sites for Farmers and other Land Managers. These can be printed out and stored for future reference or passed on to Land Managers who do not have access to the internet. Each note lists reasons on the first page why certain issues or features are of archaeological interest or concern. The second page gives examples of good practice and sources of more detailed information.

Case Studies

The Case Study series is designed to show how archaeological and historical features survive on different land types and under different management regimes. These should be used to inform management decisions.
