Artefact Loan Boxes
CSA manages a teaching collection of original artefacts on behalf of the National Museums of Scotland. These artefacts are made available to groups and individuals for educational purposes. As well as being incorporated into CSA’s workshops to link the activities with the archaeological evidence, the artefacts are also used in their own right for handling sessions with groups that range from adult learners to YAC groups, school classes to creative writing classes.
CSA is currently developing two themed loan boxes (one on Romans, one on Stone Tools) that will be piloted with different groups. If the pilot is a success further boxes on a variety of themes will be developed. This will enable the artefacts to be used by a greater number and wider range of people.
The boxes will include:
- between 8 and 10 artefacts
- supporting information on each artefact
- example activities
- suggested curriculum links
For more information about the boxes or to find out about borrowing artefacts, contact Assistant Director, Fiona Davidson.
