ARCHAEOLOGY ON THE ROAD

As part of Highland Year of Culture and ahead of CSA's Archaeology Fair, Assistant Director Fiona Davidson and Adopt a Monument Officer Helen Bradley will be running archaeological workshops with primary schools and youth groups in the Dingwall area at the end of April.

Work with Strathpeffer and Strathconan Primary Schools will involve a site visit with an archaeologist from Highland Council Archaeology Service, and follow up activities in the classroom that will help them understand what an archaeologist does, and how they can get involved in understanding archaeology in their own area.

Work with Dingwall and Avoch Brownie packs and the Fit4it Youth Clubs will include hands-on opportunities to try ancient technology activities.

The results of the workshops will be displayed at the Scottish Archaeology Fair on 5th May. The Fair is a biennial event co-ordinated by CSA which brings together 30 local archaeology and history groups and national organisations. Also appearing at the Fair will be The Lochland Vikings who will be battling local Picts. The event is free!
