Scottish Archaeology Fair

Saturday 5th May 2007

Strathpeffer Pavilion

Over 35 participants are confirmed for the Fair which will be taking place in Strathpeffer, near Dingwall.

With so many participants, there's something for everyone. Allan Kilpatrick from the Royal Commission on Ancient & Historic Monuments Scotland will be giving two talks on the Archaeology of Ross-shire and on the legacy of the two world wars in the local area. Allan will also be giving a guided walk to the local hillfort Knockfarril. In addition to this experts from Scotland's Rural Past will be offering visitors the opportunity to try their hand at recording a local abandonned settlement.

The Lochland Vikings will be setting up camp behind the Pavillion and will be demonstrating Viking cookery skills, metalworking, traditional crafts and there might even be a skir, ish or two with the local Picts.

Also attending will be Strath Ices for lovers of ice-cream, and the Strathpeffer Spa Soap Company will also be coming along. As well as this, the Red Poppy Restaurant @ the Pavilion will be open for home baking, refreshments and lunches.

CSA will have it's own stall at the Fair where people who join the organisation on the day will get 10% off an annual subscription!

The Fair is also the ideal opportunity to explore the village of Strathpeffer, an old Victorian Spa town, complete with the original pumphouse where visitors can still taste the original spring waters!

Admission to the Fair is free and doors open at 10am.
