Rural Land Use

CSA has a dedicated Project Officer working to promote the need for protection and conservation management of archaeological features in the landscape. As the CSA Archaeological Adviser on Rural Land Use, Jonathan Wordsworth provides information and training and has produced a number of advisory guides to assist people working in rural Scotland. These notes assist in the identification and management of archaeological sites and historic landscapes and cover an increasingly broad range of topics. The advice notes can be found here.

CSA also produces a regular Scottish Rural Archaeology Bulletin. If you would like to receive a copy by email contact CSA to be put on the distribution list.

The project is a partnership with Historic Scotland, working with the Scottish Agricultural College, the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group Scotland, Local Authority Archaeologists and the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department.
