Scottish Archaeology Month 2008

It's your opportunity to get involved in Scotland's archaeology!

All sorts of people take part in Scottish Archaeology Month, from professional archaeologists  to local heritage groups, archaeological and historical societies, Young Archaeologists' Clubs and enthusiastic individuals with an interest in their local history or monuments. 

Anyone can organise an event for SAM! We will be there with support and advice.  Just follow the steps below:

  1. Start by taking a look at the National Events Guides for 2006 and 2007 to get ideas on what kind of event you might what to organise.
  2. Read our guidelines for participants - these will give you advice on what you'll need to do to organise a SAM event and how we will support you.
  3. Download our press guidelines for information on attracting visitors to your event.  
  4. Take care of health and safety: download our information on risk assessment, and, if you will be working with children and young people, visit our Education page for guidelines on child protection.
  5. Once you know what you want to do, simply fill in the registration form (below).
